Magnus White

 U.S. cyclist Magnus White, 17

 who was due to compete in the upcoming world championships in Scotland, was struck and killed by a car Saturday while training near his home in Boulder, Colorado.


"He is a rising star in the cross-country cycling world, and his passion for cycling is shown through his competition and camaraderie with his teammates and local community," USA Cycling said in a statement released Sunday. Our heartfelt condolences to the White family, his teammates, friends and the bouldering community at this time."


White started competing nationally at the age of ten and credits his father with exposing him to the sport.


“My dad really got me into cycling when I was growing up because he was a road racer. Then I discovered my local team [Boulder Junior Cycling Team] and they had some very Fantastic coaches, they got me to where I am today," White said in his profile on USA Cycling's website.


White is a multidisciplinary rising star who won the junior cyclocross national championship in 2021 and earned a spot on the U.S. national team. He raced with the team in Europe ahead of last year's Motocross World Championships and was re-selected to represent the United States at this year's Motocross World Championships in the Netherlands. He was also a talented snowboarder, according to a fundraising page he set up from memory.


White started racing and mountain bike racing that season. He was killed in an accident during his final training session before the Junior Mountain Bike World Championships in Scotland.


He is survived by his parents Michael and Jill and his brother Arrow.

It should be noted that Magnus White achieved a significant milestone by winning a national championship in cyclocross for juniors. He also had the honor of representing the United States on the national team, competing in Europe and earning a place in the World Championship for road cycling.

Magnus was known for his dedication, skill, and close relationships with his teammates and the local cycling community. His loss is deeply felt by his family, friends, and the entire cycling community. Let us remember Magnus for his remarkable talent and the positive impact he made in his short but impactful career.
